Teamsters Increase Pressure on Newsom Over Driverless Truck Bill

The president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has ramped up the pressure on California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) for “catering to Big Tech” and against his members, after his administration signaled its opposition to legislation that would require drivers in autonomous trucks.

The bill (A.B. 316) faces a key Senate Appropriations Committee vote Friday. Despite Democratic supermajorities in the legislature and bipartisan support from lawmakers, the measure’s fate remains uncertain even if it passes.
