Scholastic Corp., a children’s book publisher best known for bringing the boy wizard named Harry Potter to the US, has appointed a successor to its longtime general counsel Andrew Hedden.
Hedden, hired by Scholastic to be its top lawyer in 2008, will retire on May 31 but continue to be employed in a senior counselor position at the New York-based company. Christopher Lick, a deputy general counsel who also began working in-house at Scholastic in 2008, will take over its legal chief role as of June 1, according to a securities filing and statement by the company.
