The Republican National Committee’s lawsuit against Michigan’s secretary of state over voter-roll maintenance was properly tossed because it didn’t prove it faced imminent injury, the Sixth Circuit ruled Thursday.
The RNC therefore didn’t satisfy standing requirements, a three-judge panel for the Sixth Circuit said. Its lawsuit against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D) and her elections director is “unduly speculative” and makes assertions such as it “may spend more on resources,” the three judges said in the per curiam opinion.
