A bill to streamline sales tax policy in Puerto Rico could face a rocky ride in the local legislature.

Sen. Joanne Rodríguez Veve, of the conservative party Proyecto Dignidad, introduced a bill (SB 1165) aiming to streamline business returns and have the US territory join the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement—a pact among 24 states to simplify sales tax codes.
