Marriott Vacations Worldwide’s Veteran Legal Head to Leave

James Hunter, the longtime top lawyer at Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp. will retire April 1, the company said Friday.

Hunter will step down March 9 and take on an advisory role until he departs the company, which he helped spin off from Marriott International Inc. He’s set to receive a $1.5 million severance payment after almost 20 years as general counsel at the timeshare business, according to a company filing. He led the legal department of the unit that would become Marriott Vacations Worldwide starting in 2006, after joining the company’s former parent in 1994.
