Judge Orders Customs Head to Detail Tariff Refunds In-Person (1)

The trade court has ordered the Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection to appear in-person in June to address the agency’s timing for returning approximately $166 billion in tariff refunds.

In an order filed Wednesday, US Court of International Trade Judge Richard Eaton—who has overseen the litigation over refund issues in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Trump’s emergency powers tariffs—called for CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott to appear at a hearing June 9 “to answer the court’s questions as to the anticipated timing of Customs’ compliance with the court’s order.”
