HHS Secretary Becerra Touts Disputed Nursing Home Staffing Push

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday defended a Biden administration proposal that would boost the numbers of direct-care workers at nursing homes.

During a web briefing sponsored by the Service Employees International Union, Becerra said roughly 75% of US nursing homes would have to raise staffing levels under the proposed rule, which has been criticized by the nursing home industry, patient advocates, and the American Hospital Association.
