Green Groups, States Challenge DOE Power Plant Retirement Delay

Environmental groups and state entities in separate petitions for review challenged the Energy Department’s decision to push back the retirement of oil and gas units at Eddystone Generating Station in Pennsylvania.

“There is no energy ‘emergency’ that calls for the federal government to mandate the continued operation of this inefficient, uneconomic plant,” the Natural Resources Defense Council said in a statement about the groups’ legal moves.
