General Mills Sues Insurers Over Ultra-Processed Foods Cases

General Mills Inc. sued units of Liberty Mutual Holding Co. and Chubb Ltd. seeking coverage for litigation over the manufacture, marketing, and sale of ultra-processed foods.

The insurers have “failed to acknowledge the full extent of their broad duties under their respective policies,” the food conglomerate said in an April 10 complaint in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

General Mills is asking the court to issue a declaratory ruling on Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and Ace Property & Casualty Insurance Co.'s obligations under a series of general and excess-umbrella liability policies.
