Florida’s top cop announced an unprecedented antitrust investigation Tuesday, seeking to pry out the reasons why Florida State University’s undefeated football team was excluded from this season’s four-team playoff.

Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) is demanding the College Football Playoff Selection Committee cough up documents relating to members’ deliberations, compensation, conflicts of interest, and all communications to major college football conferences and sports network ESPN regarding the decision to keep the Seminoles out of the playoff—a decision that cost the school millions of dollars in advertising revenue.
