FAA Bill Delivers Lawmakers Hard-Fought Wins Before Election

Major aviation legislation is headed to President Joe Biden’s desk with policy wins for the top lawmakers who spent more than a year working on the measure.

Congress overcame months of tense debates that nearly derailed the measure to clear Wednesday the multi-year bill (H.R. 3935) reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration. The bill broadly aims to improve safety, hire more air traffic controllers and modernize the aviation system.

Now the four lawmakers largely responsible for landing the legislation—potentially one of the last major bills to pass before the 2024 election—are ready to tout their success.
