California lawmakers are making a final push this session to pass measures that would require thousands of companies doing business in the state to report on greenhouse gas emissions and climate-related financial risks—going beyond federal efforts in the space.
Proponents are attempting to position the Golden State as a bulwark against business efforts to stop emissions reporting requirements being undertaken by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
