Elon Musk’s xAI Taps Former Top DOGE Lawyer as General Counsel

James Burnham, Elon Musk’s former lead lawyer at the Department of Government Efficiency, is now general counsel for the technology mogul’s artificial intelligence startup xAI.

Burnham’s new role was listed at the bottom of a Nov. 19 press release touting a partnership with Humain, a Saudi Arabian-backed AI venture, to build a 500 megawatt data center in the country that will use chips supplied by Nvidia Corp. Burnham and xAI didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
