Democrats Eye Clean Energy, Drug Prices for Spending Bill Unity

A key Senate Democrat says his party’s signature domestic spending bill can be revived around two key areas: reducing prescription drug costs and boosting clean energy tax credits.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) told reporters on Tuesday that Democrats agree broadly on expanding access to health care, empowering the government to negotiate with drugmakers, and providing incentives for clean energy. Senate Democrats hope to clear a package soon built around these policies, he said.

“The reality is there is a lot of common ground right now,” Wyden said.
