Cravath M&A Co-Leader Jumps to Top Legal Spot at Martin Marietta

George Schoen, co-chair of the global mergers and acquisitions practice at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, is leaving the Wall Street law firm to become general counsel next month at Martin Marietta Materials Inc., a construction and building materials giant he has advised in recent years.

“Cravath has been my professional home for nearly 30 years,” Schoen said in a statement Wednesday evening. Schoen added he’s “looking forward to continuing my relationship with the firm and embracing this new challenge with a company I have respected deeply over many years of working together.”
