Canada is recommending renewal of the North American trade agreement for 16 years, the country’s minister responsible for US trade says in letter to his US and Mexican counterparts.
- The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement is “highly beneficial” to all countries and North America is one of the most successful economic regions in the world,
Dominic LeBlanc says - He says Canada recognizes that either or both parties might propose areas where improvements may be warranted, and Canada is willing to consider proposals
- “In parallel, discussions with the United States on addressing sectoral tariffs will be essential,” he says
