Amazon’s Top Lawyer Sees Pay Package Soar Due to Stock Awards

Amazon.com Inc.’s longtime legal chief David Zapolsky received roughly $25.7 million in total compensation last year, according to a proxy statement.

Most of Zapolsky’s remuneration came in the form of roughly $25.3 million in stock awards. The filing Thursday shows he was also paid $365,000 in base salary for 2024, which was the same amount he received the year prior. Amazon rewards its executives with large equity grants every two years, so Zapolsky’s earnings last year significantly outstripped the $371,600 he was paid in 2023.
