AI Influence on Privacy, Patents Set to Spur Wave of Litigation

In-house counsel should brace for a surge of lawsuits stemming from the impact of artificial intelligence on data privacy and intellectual property rights, lawyers said at the Association of Corporate Counsel annual meeting in Philadelphia Monday.

Companies can expect “a cottage industry of people going around doing these drive-by privacy suits,” via class action, or through private rights of action when jurisdictions allow it, said Jeffrey Huang, senior assistant general counsel at Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc.
