A panel of Republicans approved plans to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, setting up a historic vote on the House floor as critics denounce the effort as unfounded.

The Homeland Security Committee advanced articles of impeachment 18-15 along party lines after a marathon markup.
