Colombian Police Officer Gets Another Chance in Asylum Case

A former Colombian police officer will get another chance to argue that he should receive asylum in the U.S. after being threatened by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, commonly known as FARC, the Fourth Circuit said Wednesday.

The Board of Immigration Appeals improperly ordered the removal of Edier de Jesus Rodriguez Bedoya and his family to Colombia by failing to view multiple death threats as past persecution, which is required for asylum under the Immigration and Nationality Act, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said.
