A Wyoming doctor can’t proceed with a suit claiming Gov. Mark Gordon (R) violated the First Amendment by removing him from the state’s medical licensing board for criticizing a professional association’s support of gender-affirming care, a federal court said.
The doctor didn’t state a claim that the governor’s response to an email he sent to lawmakers was an unconstitutional infringement of his free-speech rights, because his message expressed private grievances in addition to his opinion on a matter of public concern, the US District Court for the District of Wyoming said Monday.
