Trump Nominates Acting CDC Chief Monarez to Lead Agency (1)

President Donald Trump said he is nominating Susan Monarez, the acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to be the agency’s permanent chief.

“Dr. Monarez brings decades of experience championing Innovation, Transparency, and strong Public Health Systems,” Trump said on his social-media platform on Monday.

Trump said Monarez would work closely with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., adding that the two would “prioritize Accountability, High Standards, and Disease Prevention to finally address the Chronic Disease Epidemic and, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!”
