A False Claims Act whistleblower lost his challenge to a $45 million settlement agreement between the US and California nursing homes that allegedly engaged in a kickback scheme.
Trilochan Singh failed to show in a hearing that the settlement isn’t fair, adequate, and reasonable, Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr. of the US District Court for the Central District of California said in a Nov. 3 order.
The agreement, which was reached on an “ability-to-pay” basis is therefore approved, the court said. The government and defendants must file their stipulated consent judgment no later than Nov. 13, it said.
