Two companies will pay a combined $36 million to settle allegations they supplied prescription drugs to West Virginia medical dispensaries which then distributed them for nonlegitimate medical reasons in order to boost profits.
Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health Inc. agreed to pay $20 million to settle its case (State v. Cardinal Health Inc., W. Va. Cir. Ct., No. 12-C-140, settlement announced 1/9/17) while Chesterbrook, Pa.-based AmerisourceBergen Corp. agreed to pay $16 million to resolve its legal dispute with West Virginia (State v. AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp., W. Va. Cir. Ct., 12-C-141, settlement announced 1/9/17
