Watson Pays Massachusetts $2.4 Million To Settle Inflated Price Reporting Suit

BOSTON—Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc., a generic drug manufacturer, has agreed to pay Massachusetts $2.4 million to resolve allegations that it falsely inflated prices it reported to pharmaceutical price reporting services, Attorney General Martha Coakley (D) said Feb. 12 (Massachusetts v. Mylan Laboratories).

Watson, based in Corona, Calif., was one of 13 drug manufacturers sued by the state in 2003 in the U.S. District Court for Massachusetts for False Claims Act violations related to their price reporting services (187 HCDR, 9/26/03).

“This settlement furthers our efforts to address this national and industrywide problem,” Coakley stated.
