Washington State Seeks Order Ending Abortion Pill Regulations

Heightened federal regulation of an abortion-inducing drug must end because the medication is “exceptionally safe” and is subject to severe dispensing restrictions only because it’s “controversial,” Washington’s top attorney says.

Federal laws allowing the US Food and Drug Administration to restrict high-risk drugs don’t include “political controversy” as a reason for doing so, Attorney General Robert Ferguson (D) told the US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington on Thursday.
