Washington, Indiana, Rhode Island Receive $35 Million for Health Insurance Exchanges

The Department of Health and Human Services May 23 awarded Indiana, Rhode Island, and Washington more than $35 million in the first round of grants to establish health insurance exchanges in 2014.

The exchange establishment grants “will help ensure these states have the resources and the flexibility they need to establish exchanges, and ensure that Americans are no longer on their own when shopping for insurance,” Steve Larsen, director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, said in a release.
