Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. and CVS Health Corp. plan to seek US certification to dispense the abortion pill, moves that could dramatically widen access to thousands of pharmacies in the parts of the country where abortion remains legal.
The US Food and Drug Administration has been under pressure to loosen decades-old restrictions on abortion pills, which until recently could only be distributed in health-care settings like doctor’s offices or hospitals.
