The Utah House passed a reduced Medicaid expansion bill that would put full Medicaid expansion into effect if the state fails to secure federal approval of necessary waivers.
The bill (S.B. 96), approved Feb. on a 56-19 vote, was sent back to the Senate for consideration of House amendments. The House substantially revised the Senate bill, which proposed replacing a full, Affordable Care Act-style expansion approved by voters in November with an expansion that would cover fewer people at an initially higher cost.
