US Supreme Court Asked to Overturn Indiana’s Fetal Remains Law

An Indiana law that requires the burial or cremation of fetal remains after a lawful abortion procedure should be declared unconstitutional, a group seeking US Supreme Court intervention said.

The plaintiffs, including two women who’ve had legal abortions, are asking the nation’s top court to overturn a decision by the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit that summarily upheld Indiana’s fetal remains disposal law on the ground that it applies only to providers and doesn’t implicate patients’ First Amendment rights.
