US Regulator Asks Consumers to Stop Using Eye Drop Made in India

The US Food and Drug Administration has asked consumers to immediately stop using an eye drop manufactured by an Indian firm due to potential bacterial contamination.

There have been 55 reports of “adverse events,” including eye infections, permanent loss of vision, and one death from a bloodstream infection, the FDA said in a statement dated Feb. 2.

Chennai-based Global Pharma Healthcare Pvt Ltd. is voluntarily recalling its Artificial Tears Lubricant Eye Drops from the US market, according to a separate company statement posted by the FDA on its website. The product is distributed in the US by ErziCare LLC and ...
