Michigan State OKs Medical Exam Chaperones in Nassar Fallout

Michigan State University agreed to provide chaperones for sensitive medical examinations and make changes to its nondiscrimination policies to resolve a Health and Human Services investigation into the sexual abuse of patients by former doctor Larry Nassar.

Michigan State, which employed Nassar, also will designate a staff member to coordinate sex discrimination complaints and revise nondiscrimination notices to clarify sex discrimination under Title IX of the Civil Rights Act and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act as part of the voluntary resolution, the HHS’s Office for Civil Rights announced Aug. 12.
