UnitedHealthcare of Colorado will purchase Rocky Mountain Health Plans based in Grand Junction, Colo., to restore the latter company’s capital base and help ensure it continues as a “more sustainable” health plan going forward, the companies announced.
RMHP’s board or directors approved unanimously the decision to sell to United, the companies said July 26. The Rocky Mountain plan will retain its brand and management team and maintain a large presence throughout western and rural Colorado, as well as remain a major employer in Grand Junction, it said.
