UnitedHealth Plans to Rebate ACA Profit to Customers in 2026 (2)

UnitedHealth Group Inc. plans to give profits from its Affordable Care Act plans back to customers in 2026 as Congress weighs extending tax credits for those plans, the company’s top executive said in prepared testimony.

The company didn’t detail the financial impact of the decision in testimony from Chief Executive Officer Stephen Hemsley posted on a House committee website Wednesday morning. Insurers have been under fire from President Donald Trump, who opposed extending extra subsidies for ACA plans. The decision from UnitedHealth, the largest US health insurer, could neutralize accusations that it’s unduly profiting from taxpayer-funded help.
