UnitedHealth Affiliates Settle Suits Over Psychotherapy Coverage

United Healthcare Insurance Co., United Behavioral Health, and Oxford Health Insurance Inc. announced plans to settle lawsuits accusing them of improperly cutting reimbursement rates for office-based psychotherapy sessions, according to filings in federal courts in California and New York.

The settlement is expected to resolve proposed class actions pending in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of New York and the Northern District of California, along with investigations into UnitedHealth and its affiliates by the federal Department of Labor and the New York Attorney General’s office.
