U.S. Wants Appellate Review of $19M Obamacare Pay Award (1)

The federal government is challenging a court order that requires it to pay $19 million in damages to a Maine health insurer after the government went back on its promise to reimburse the insurer for lowering coverage costs.

Maine Community Health Options won on its claim that the Trump administration violated the Affordable Care Act when it refused to honor the law’s cost-sharing provision. The government told a federal district court July 2 that it is appealing that ruling to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
