The national stockpile is set to have as many as 190 million nitrile gloves by the end of this week and is in the process of finalizing a “fairly substantial investment” in their production, a top Trump administration official told reporters Thursday.
The Strategic National Stockpile also has contracts to purchase 790 million N95 respirators through October 2021, said Brig. Gen. David Sanford, director of the supply chain task force.
Sanford acknowledged that there are constraints now in the glove manufacturing market and said the investment will lead to “well over a billion” being produced in early 2021.
