December 1, 2022, 11:45 AM UTC

White & Case advised central European private equity firm MidEuropa on its acquisition of a majority stake in Optegra Eye Health Care, a European ophthalmology platform.

Eversheds Sutherland counseled Optegra’s existing stakeholder, H2 Equity Partners, which is maintaining a minority stake in Optegra, as is Optegra’s management, according to a statement.

No financial details were disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to close in 2023’s first half.

MidEuropa was founded 20 years ago and has 44 businesses backed to date, the statement said. Optegra, which has offices in the UK, the Czech Republic, and Poland, offers procedures including cataract, age-related macular degeneration, and vision correction.

White & Case said its London-based team advising MidEuropa on the deal was led by partner Ken Barry and included partner Colin Harley and associates Joe Bradley, Asta Tukiainen, Anthony Isichei, Oliver Trotman, and Jacob Heath.
