Trump’s HHS Urged to Ease Obamacare Access as Outbreak Widens

Democrats in Congress are calling on the Trump administration to re-open enrollment in the Obamacare exchanges, following the lead of states, so people can get coverage as the new coronavirus spreads.

“We’ve seen many state leaders, governors, step up, offer those types of interventions, and many more,” Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.) said on a press call Monday. She called for a national special enrollment period related to the coronavirus crisis.

Pressure is building on the administration to allow people to come back into the exchanges to enroll so they may have coverage if they contract the virus and get sick. ...
