The Trump administration released Monday guidance informing states of a multibillion-dollar funding opportunity to rural hospitals affected by Medicaid cuts and other financial pressures.
The Rural Health Transformation Program, established under July’s sweeping tax and spending bill, plans to make $50 billion available to address five strategic goals.
The goals include bolstering preventative health measures; improving care coordination between rural health facilities and larger regional health systems; attracting and retaining a high-skilled workforce; developing new payment systems that reduce health-care costs; and spearheading new technologies aimed at improving care delivery, data security, and access to digital health tools.
