The EPA will stop focusing enforcement resources on methane emissions from oil and gas facilities and will be careful about using or relying on environmental justice considerations when taking enforcement actions, according to an internal agency memo.
Another change pivots the Environmental Protection Agency away from focusing on facilities that handle hydrogen fluoride, which is used in petrochemical manufacturing. The EPA will also stop focusing its air toxics enforcement exclusively on communities deemed to be already highly burdened by pollution, said the memo sent Wednesday, which was reviewed by Bloomberg Law.
