Trump Tax Law Squeezes Nonprofit Hospitals

For-profit corporations got a lot of the “juice” from President Donald Trump’s new tax law with a reduction in the corporate tax rate, but it’s nonprofits that are feeling the squeeze, according to tax attorneys.

Hospitals, some of the largest, most complex nonprofit entities in the country, are seeking guidance from the Internal Revenue Service on how to comply with the new tax law. The American Hospital Association sent a letter to the IRS and the Treasury Department earlier this month asking for guidance on the new tax measure, including an excise tax on executive compensation over $1 million.
