Trump Administration Sued Over Transgender Health-Care Ban (1)

Transgender minors and advocacy groups sued President Donald Trump and others Tuesday to invalidate a broad ban on gender-affirming care for people under 19.

The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland, says Trump’s executive order directing that federal funding be immediately revoked from entities that provide gender affirming medical care for patients under 19 is “unlawful and unconstitutional.”

The order is the latest move to limit transgender individuals’ access to health care. Over two-dozen states already ban gender-affirming care for minors, and several state Medicaid programs refuse to cover it.
