Department of Justice lawyers told a federal court Tuesday that they’ll no longer be helping the plaintiffs challenging Alabama’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors.
The US, the plaintiffs, and the state defendants filed a joint stipulation of dismissal notifying the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama that the Trump administration was withdrawing a Biden-era complaint-in-intervention arguing that the provision violates the minor plaintiffs’ equal protection rights.
The US joined the case in April 2022.
