Transgender Plaintiffs Slam Florida’s ‘Experimental’ Care Claim

Gender-affirming medical care is necessary, safe, effective, and not experimental, plaintiffs told a federal court as part of their challenge to Florida’s decision to exclude coverage from its Medicaid program.

The plaintiffs—transgender adults, minors, and the minors’ parents—urged the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida to deny the state Medicaid agency’s motion for summary judgment in their lawsuit seeking relief from a rule prohibiting Medicaid payments for gender dysphoria treatments.
