The American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa is challenging a state law that excludes gender-affirming surgeries from Medicaid coverage.
The civil rights group filed a lawsuit May 31 in the Iowa District Court for Polk County challenging the law that the Republican-controlled Iowa Legislature passed and Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) signed May 3 to amend the state’s Health and Human Services appropriations budget.
