Abortion providers in Kentucky and Idaho sued the states Monday to invalidate total bans on abortion that allegedly violate the states’ constitutions.
Kentucky’s Constitution guarantees rights of privacy and self-determination that are impacted by a trigger ban and a six-week gestational age ban, a complaint filed in state court said.
Idaho’s Supreme Court, meanwhile, has been asked to review a total abortion ban set to take effect Aug. 19. It violates state constitutional provisions protecting the fundamental right to privacy in making intimate familial decisions, equal protection, and due process, the petition says.
