Texas Satanist Sues for Religious Opt Out From Abortion Rule (1)

The Satanist Temple Inc. sued Texas on Friday to have some abortion regulations declared unconstitutional as applied to one of its members, who says they substantially interfere with her religious beliefs and a ceremony meant to cleanse her feelings about the procedure.

The complaint, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, alleges that the member, identified only as Ann Doe, wants to have an abortion and participate in a ritual designed to “cast off guilt, shame, and mental discomfort that the member may be experiencing” as a result of electing to end her pregnancy. ...
