Texas Rehab Therapy Firm Reliant Settles Kickback Allegations for $6M

A Texas-based provider of rehabilitation therapy services will pay $6.1 million to resolve allegations it illegally paid kickbacks to skilled nursing facilities and physicians to boost its Medicare business, the Department of Justice said Aug. 23

Reliant Rehabilitation Holdings Inc. settled the allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by paying kickbacks to some skilled nursing facilities and physicians. The case was in connection with care provided to Medicare beneficiaries in a “Reliant Medical Management” program, which the company discontinued about a year ago, according to an Aug. 23 statement from the company.
