Texas Orthodontic Clinic, Dentist to Pay $1.2 Million to Settle False Claims Case

HOUSTON—A Texas orthodontic clinic and its founder will pay the government $1.2 million to resolve allegations that they submitted false claims to the Texas Medicaid program in violation the False Claims Act and Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act, prosecutors announced March 22.

The United States and the Texas Medicaid program claimed that All Smiles Dental Center Inc. in Dallas, and dentist Richard Malouf, submitted claims between 2004 and 2007 for orthodontic services that were not furnished or rendered, were unbundled under applicable current procedural terminology codes, and/or not properly documented, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Sarah R. ...
